Missing First 5? When students have a zero or are missing their First 5 it is normally due to a few different reasons. First, students forget to hand it in during class. Secondly, many forget to put their name on the paper. If this happens I have a "No Name" bin in my room in which they can look, write their name on it if they find it, and hand it in to receive credit.
Low Score on the First 5? First 5 questions are meant to practice using your ability to argue a historical point. Answers are not meant to be right or wrong, however they are meant to be descriptive using precise language to express ones thoughts. We also use this time to develop and grow in our writing abilities. As a 10th grader, students should be writing more than 2 or 3 sentences. Most students will reach a full length paragraph. During the 5 minutes allotted, students need to continue to write. Our goal is to not stop or go past that point when you feel "stuck".
When students are absent, it is their responsibility to make up the work. By checking Planbook, students will find the First 5 that was practiced for that day. Take 5 minutes to make up this work.
